Mexico stocks higher at close of trade; S&P/BMV IPC up 0.90%

Investing.com – Mexico stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Industrials, Consumer Goods & Services and Consumer Staples sectors led shares higher.

At the close in Mexico, the S&P/BMV IPC added 0.90%.

The best performers of the session on the S&P/BMV IPC were Grupo Elektra , S.A.B. De C.V. (BMV:ELEKTRA), which rose 6.47% or 17.75 points to trade at 292.02 at the close. Meanwhile, Alsea , S.A.B. De C.V. (BMV:ALSEA) added 3.85% or 1.70 points to end at 45.87 and Grupo Financiero Banorte (BMV:GFNORTEO) was up 3.62% or 4.97 points to 142.22 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Becle SA (BMV:CUERVO), which fell 3.82% or 1.00 points to trade at 25.18 at the close. Promotora y Operadora de Infraestructura SAB de CV (BMV:PINFRA) declined 3.10% or 5.88 points to end at 183.82 and Orbia Advance Corporation SAB de CV (BMV:ORBIA) was down 2.58% or 0.48 points to 18.11.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Mexico Stock Exchange by 136 to 104 and 24 ended unchanged.

Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.29% or 7.66 to $2,666.16 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in January rose 2.60% or 1.77 to hit $69.87 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract rose 2.41% or 1.73 to trade at $73.56 a barrel.

USD/MXN was down 0.27% to 20.32, while EUR/MXN fell 0.14% to 21.36.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.10% at 106.31.
