Investing.com – Taiwan stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Semiconductor, Electronics and Electrical/Machinery sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted rose 2.64%.
The best performers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Chant Sincere Co Ltd (TW:6205), which rose 9.97% or 7.30 points to trade at 80.50 at the close. Meanwhile, Cosmo Electronics Corp (TW:2466) added 9.94% or 5.00 points to end at 55.30 and Altek Corp (TW:3059) was up 9.89% or 3.25 points to 36.10 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Formosa Oilseed Processing Co Ltd (TW:1225), which fell 9.92% or 5.00 points to trade at 45.40 at the close. Shin Tai Industry Co Ltd (TW:1235) declined 8.88% or 8.20 points to end at 84.10 and Ji-Haw Industrial Co Ltd (TW:3011) was down 4.64% or 1.15 points to 23.65.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Taiwan Stock Exchange by 0 to 0.
Shares in Formosa Oilseed Processing Co Ltd (TW:1225) fell to 3-years lows; falling 9.92% or 5.00 to 45.40. Shares in Cosmo Electronics Corp (TW:2466) rose to all time highs; up 9.94% or 5.00 to 55.30. Shares in Ji-Haw Industrial Co Ltd (TW:3011) fell to 52-week lows; down 4.64% or 1.15 to 23.65.
Crude oil for February delivery was up 0.40% or 0.28 to $69.52 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in March rose 0.43% or 0.31 to hit $72.63 a barrel, while the February Gold Futures contract rose 0.14% or 3.74 to trade at $2,631.94 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was up 0.07% to 32.72, while TWD/CNY unchanged 0.09% to 0.22.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.09% at 107.90.
